Social Media Officer
BSc
I graduated with a BSc(Hons) in Psychology from Durham University in 2021, after which I spent years gaining invaluable industry experience in various settings from SEND boarding schools to supported living and outreach work, where I supported individuals of a range of ages and backgrounds, with brain injuries, profound physical and cognitive disabilities, SEND & LD, ASD, and complex mental health diagnoses.
After joining the BIS as a Cognitive Rehabilitation Assistant (CRA) two years ago, I have continued to hone my knowledge and expertise in acquired brain injury, collaborating with clients and MDTs. In 2024 I progressed to be given the opportunity to gain clinical experience as an assistant psychologist, working in a supported living facility for individuals with brain injury, in partnership with NPsych. Throughout this role I provided 1:1 psychological intervention where I delivered a range of therapeutic approaches, administered cognitive function tests to monitor client progress, conducted staff training sessions surrounding brain injury, was responsible for compiling psychological guidelines for clients and had a large focus on driving client engagement within the service.
Alongside my work as a CRA, I started a new role as the BIS Social Media Officer in October 2024. Within my role manage the BIS social media accounts, creating and posting content aimed at raising awareness about brian injury, psychoeducational resources and the services we offer at the BIS. I work closely with our Community Wellbeing Officer and MHFA to encourage team engagement and support both within the service and externally. Psychoeducational content is made available to all BIS CRA’s to utilise with their clients.
Outside of work I like to get into nature, read or do anything creative-I draw, paint or crochet nearly every day. Creativity is something very important to me and I am acutely interested in the benefits of creative expression in mental health. As a result, I started a small project in 2023 in which I paint positive images and messages on pebbles and leave them around Brighton for people to find, promoting positive mental health and encouraging small acts of kindness amongst the community.
